City of Arts and Sciences - Valencia Spain - It's most famous attraction! - Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias
Valencia Spain is filled with lots to do, in this episode we visit the famous City of Arts and Sciences, a cultural and architectural complex on the Turia River Park on the south side of Valencia! With sprawling grounds and multiple futuristic buildings, each housing a different activity inside, you may want to rent a bike to see it all.
The City of Arts and Sciences is a major tourist destination holding some of the most futuristic architecture in all of Spain and is listed as one of the 12 Treasures of Spain. This is an attraction you surly do not want to miss!
The City of Arts and Sciences is currently being used as the mass vaccination point here in Valencia Spain. With a population over 1M it is the only location able to handle (500K+) vaccines a week.
During the summertime it is is normal to see paddle boarding and row boating on the artificial lakes. So come along with us as we visit the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia Spain.
After the City of Arts and Sciences we take a stroll through Turia Park, where we visit one of the largest rose gardens in Valencia Spain. We then head over to a secret bar, hidden behind some trees in the gardens. So come with us and see some more of Valencia Spain!
City of Arts and Sciences - Valencia, Spain
This complex was designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, the construction started in July 1996, and was inaugurated in April 1998 with the opening of L'Hemisfèric.
L'Hemisfèric (1998) – an IMAX Cinema, planetarium and laserium. The building is meant to resemble a giant eye, and has an approximate surface of 13,000 m².
Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe (2000) – an interactive museum of science that resembles the skeleton of a whale. It occupies around 40,000 m² on three floors.
L'Umbracle (2001) – an open structure enveloping a landscaped walk with plant species indigenous to Valencia (such as rockrose, lentisca, rosemary, lavender, honeysuckle, bougainvillea and palm trees). It harbors sculptures by contemporary artists (Miquel de Navarre, Francesc Abbot, Yoko Ono and others).
L'Oceanogràfic (2003) – an open-air oceanographic park. It is the largest oceanographic aquarium in Europe with 110,000 square meters and 42 million liters of water.
Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia (2005) – an opera house and performing arts center dedicated to music and the performing arts. It is surrounded by 87,000 square meters of landscape and water, as well as 10,000 square meters of walking area.
L'Àgora (2009) – a covered plaza in which concerts and sporting events (such as the Valencia Open 500) are held.

Who are we?
Well, we are a couple from worlds apart that has chosen Spain to be our home. Vicky is born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, now an American citizen. Josh is an American, well, born and raised.. ya know.
We left our family and friends and moved to Valencia, Spain in the middle of the pandemic. We decided to that we should also start a YouTube channel to show the world that, you can do anything (even if you are getting grey hair), if you think you can! If you want to see how a couple of expats can live the Mediterranean dream, and you want to join us on our journey...then subscribe, we would love to have you as part of our extended family!
