Title:
ESnet SENSE and L2 QoS Path Orchestration on NRP

Abstract:
This session focuses on orchestrating programmable network paths within the National Research Platform using ESnet SENSE. SENSE enables automated provisioning of L2 circuits with Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees across multiple sites. The NRP integrates SENSE directly into its Kubernetes infrastructure using a custom SENSE Operator. Participants will learn how to request, deploy, and tear down L2 paths between Kubernetes pods running across different geographic sites connected by research networks. The session will include a hands-on walkthrough of using the operator to create path requests using YAML manifests, monitor provisioning states, and handle cleanup. We will also demonstrate the use of Multus CNI to attach multiple network interfaces to pods, allowing SENSE-provisioned interfaces to be directly accessible inside containers and virtual machines.
