Day of the Seafarer 2023

The oceans are under greater threat than ever before from climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss, which makes this year’s Day of the Seafarer theme 2023, “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on,” more relevant than ever.

Our seafarers play an important role in protecting the oceans and they are very committed to doing their part. Not only are they keeping global trade moving, they are also involved in numerous initiatives to keep our oceans healthy, protecting marine life and supporting science on climate change.
