Navigation: NDB & ADF

Continuing the series on airplane navigation, let's look at the non-directional beacon (NDB) and the automatic direction finder (ADF). NDB is one of the oldest forms of radio navigation. We start with an explanation of how it works, and the information it provides, then proceed to try it out in the plane. The area around Lumberton Regional, NC (KLBT) has 3 nearby NDB stations where we put it into practice.
