Have you ever considered leaving your home, your family and all your friends to go live in a cave for 17 years? Well, Sri Ramana Maharshi did just that and many other things as he spent his life in meditation in a Hindu pilgrimage city in Tamil Nadu.

NOTE: This video was shot before the pandemic, so I hired a guide to help me find the lesser-known places and share information about this Hindu sage. Please use social distancing and avoid travel as much as possible.

We also bumped into a local man who's parents met Ramana, so he knew his story and shared it. He showed us Umbrella Rock, which a peaceful spot off the path where Ramana used to watch the sunrise and meditate.

Skanda Ashram is the small ashram on the hill where Ramana's mother eventually lived, and he joined her after leaving the cave.

There's also another cave he spent a lot of time in, which I'll show you as well. Plus, these caves and ashram are all located on Arunachala, a sacred and holy hill that is mentioned in ancient Hindu myths.

If you ever feel like life is moving so fast and it's hard to keep up, this video and Ramana's story might show you a different perspective and lifestyle.
