Baylon Skoll and Shin Hati are Ahsoka's most mysterious new characters. What do they want? What do they mean by "power?" We believe they're after the World Between Worlds--a kind of ultimate power that eluded even Palpatine.

Alright, we're 3 episodes into Ahsoka, and we still know close to nothing about Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati.

They’re unlike any other dark side users we’ve seen before. And they’re seeking Thrawn, but we don’t know what they want with him, or what are their goals.

But we think we’ve figured out who are they, what they want and why they’re searching for Thrawn.
And their ultimate goal to bring peace and order to the galaxy with an unimaginable power.
Ok, the third episode of Ahsoka didn’t reveal much about these new mysterious force users.

But so since there were no major reveals about them in episode 3, let’s revisit the first two episodes.

In part 2, after Morgan Elsbeth reveals that Thrawn is in another galaxy, Shin asks Baylan what happens when they find the long-lost grand admiral.
And Baylan answers…. [clip]

[for some war] By war, Baylan means that when Thrawn returns, he will take charge of the imperial remnant.

The third season of The Mandalorian revealed that the remaining factions of the fractured empire are awaiting the grand admiral’s return.

This will inevitably lead to a war between the imperial remnant and the New Republic.

[for others new beginning]
When Baylan says this he looks up to the sky, possibly the Purrgil or the direction of the other galaxy. So Baylan means that once Thrawn is found, the Eye of Sion will become a bridge between galaxies. Which will allow the exploration of a new galaxy.

Doug to himself or maybe humming: Book me a vacation in another galaxy…

[power] For Baylan and Shin, finding Thrawn means unimaginable power.

But what kind of power is Baylan talking about?

Doug: Maybe they want to go to the other galaxy?

I don’t think so.
They only found out that Thrawn is another galaxy after Morgan Elsbeth told them. But let’s not completely dismiss this yet, the other galaxy will still be important in our theory.

I also don’t believe that Baylan and Shin are seeking to bring Thrawn back to restore the empire to its former glory.

This brings us to who Baylan and Shin actually are, so let’s explain that because it connects to what kind of power they’re seeking.

Baylan is revealed to be a former Jedi before the order fell. He even knew Anakin.

After order 66, he disappeared.
So that’s another Jedi who survived the purge, a list that seems to grow with every new Star Wars project.

Anyway, Baylan made it clear that [we are not Jedi].

So He and Shin are not Jedi. They have orange lightsabers, they don’t mind killing good people or working with bad people, and they use the dark side.

But they don’t appear to be Sith.
Just because they’re dark-side users, that doesn’t mean they’re connected to Palpatine and the Sith eternal.

Doug: So if they’re not Jedi and they’re not Sith, then what are they?

Well for a lack of a better term, they’re Dark Jedi.

In canon, dark Jedi are referred to as fallen Jedi who turned to the dark side, but also any dark side users who aren’t Sith.

But the term was never officially used in Star Wars, at least not in the Disney canon.

The orange color of their lightsabers is a giveaway to their true nature.

The Kyber crystals the Jedi use for their lightsabers take color are being chosen. That’s how we get the blue, green, purple and yellow lights.

But the Sith gain their red and crimson blades through a process called bleeding.

They basically pour their evil energy into the crystal to bind it to their dark nature.

Doug: That is very fascinating, but how does it connect to Thrawn?

Patience my young manager, we’re getting there.

Now Baylan and Shin’s lightsabers are orange, a rare color.

They must have gained this unique color through bleeding, but the crystals didn’t turn fully red.
