Not quite five years have passed and on March 28, 2014 ten year old Fiddin' Carson Peters made it to the Grand Old Opry and won a standing ovation:

Five year old Carson Peters won "First Place, Youth Performance" for his fiddle tune "Whiskey Before Breakfast" on 22 August 2009 at Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. He also performed "Black Eyed Susie Brown" in the "folksong" category.

The Johnson County Old Time Fiddlers Convention has been held now for the 84th consecutive year in Johnson County and for the last 18 consecutive years it has been held at the Old Mill Music Park in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. It was held on August 21 and 22, 2009 and it is usually the same weekend that NASCAR comes to Bristol (BMS) nearby so hotel accommodations are scarce between Wytheville and Knoxville.
