Autistic| When Health Professionals Correct My Identity First Language

Today I talk about something that has happened to me many times since my diagnosis, which is when I finally felt comfortable to start using identity first language after years of having person first language hammered into my head as the only "correct language" to use. I think this probably comes up for me quite a bit because not only do I have my own appointments, but I have appointments for all my kids and between all the appointments they have there are a number of people that have pretty strong opinions.

And tomorrow (I hope!) I should be getting James' birthday video posted! It's all been filmed I just haven't had time to edit it and with our slow internet it will probably take like 10 hours to load. That's what I miss the most about the libraries being open. It would only take five minutes there, which is what I used to do but that isn't an option at the moment, so ten hours it is!
