DIY: How to make a shawl collar. Making a pattern for a shawl collar. Sewing tutorial.

Today I’ll tell you about the shawl collars.
The thing is that there are the one-piece collars and sewn-in collars.
I’ve prepared a neckline, and I’ll sew the shawl collar in it. I’ll also make a one-piece collar.
I’ll be using my basic pattern made using my 10-measurement system. I have a pattern only till the waist, because I don’t need to make the whole item to make a collar.
I don’t want a collar to stuck in my neck, so I’ll cut 1,5 cm off the neckline on the front. Don’t cut too much on the back – about 7 mm.
I draw a collar at the right angle towards the shoulder. I make 11 cm long. Make it as wide as you want. I’ll make it 8 cm wide – not too wide or too narrow.
I’ll tack the chest tuck the way it is. We are working with the collars now, so the tucks shouldn’t bother us.
Notice that a one piece collar turns to the shoulder due to the notch just like the band one. One angle of the collar goes to the shoulder and the other – to the neckline.
If you have an extra piece of the collar on a center back do not hurry to cut it. Do it only when everything is ready, and you are absolutely sure that you don’t need to change anything.
Match the center front with a center front, and you’ll see how the collar looks like.
The only thing I don’t like is that the line of the collar is absolutely straight. I’ll show you how to change it.
You can make a shawl collar of any form and width.
I’m showing you the technology which can help you be different.
Everyone can make a shawl collar, but not everyone knows how to make this line round.
If you want a line to be more curved, make it wider.
I just show you the technique and you can make any collars you like.
