The Hardest Day of the Camino is the First
Truly, the hardest day of the Camino is the first day. It's a very odd trail-by-fire sort of thing, to have the beginning of what will likely be the longest walk you ever go on in your life, to start by going up and over a mountain (The Pyrenees), and back down, all in one day. It's like the Camino is making sure that you're really, truly up for it, right away. If you're gonna quit, quit now, said the Camino.
But quit we did not! The sounds of the sheep, cows, horses, and literally nothing else along the way kept us going. It even rained on us most of the day, but honestly that was a lucky break. Walking this thing in the sun would just be the worst.
So far, so good.
