White House 'Outraged' by Deadly Rocket Attack in Iraq, Psaki Says
The White House said Tuesday it is "outraged" by the rocket attack in Iraq that killed a contractor Monday night.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the U.S. "is still working through attribution with our Iraqi partners" to determine who was responsible for the attack.
Iraqi security and coalition officials say a U.S.-led coalition contractor was killed and an unspecified number of other civilians were wounded when more than a dozen rockets struck outside an airport near where U.S. forces are based in northern Iraq.
Psaki said the administration offers its condolences to the loved ones of the civilian contractor killed and "reserves the right to respond in the time and manner of our choosing."
The press secretary was also asked about the Nord Stream 2 undersea gas pipeline between Germany and Russia that faces strong opposition from the U.S. and eastern Europe.
Psaki said President Joe Biden has made clear he believes the Nord Stream 2 pipeline "is a bad deal" and the administration will continue to monitor activity on the pipeline and "make a determination of the applicability of sanctions."
