Welcome to the kickoff video of Season 3 of my “Nature & Music” project! I’m super excited as I’ve been hiking and filming a ton of amazing locales already this season and I really look forward to sharing new music and new scenic locales each week this year. This track is shaped around the percussions and synth sub bass. After coming across the unique plingy synth arpeggio sound, the music seemed to call for various drums and percussions to add an organic acoustic sound into the mix. From there, I was feeling a heavy, round and sustained low bass sound and bassline to serve as the grounding texture for all of the other moving elements. I’m particularly stoked how the sweeping sounds provide momentum in the transitions between certain sections.

The locale is Parfrey’s Glen State Natural Area in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin. It’s a truly enchanting vibe as you hike through the massive sandstone gorge just outside of Devil’s Lake State Park. It has been some time since I last hiked the driftless region and this short and relaxing trail offers a perfect up close and personal view of the scenic forest, topography, and geology in the area.
