Zero point: No signal, pure moment!

Traveling to Zero Point (Yumesamdong) is an incredible experience, but it requires some planning because of its high altitude (15,300 ft) and proximity to the border.

Best Time for Heavy Snowfall: The peak period is late December to February. During this time, the entire landscape is a thick white blanket.

Best Overall Time to Visit: March to May is excellent. You get a "best of both worlds" experience-plenty of snow at Zero Point, while the road through Yumthang Valley starts blooming with colorful Rhododendrons.

⚠️Important Travel Tips
Permit is Mandatory: You cannot go to Zero Point on your own. You need a Protected Area Permit (PAP), which is usually arranged by your tour operator in Gangtok or Lachung.

If you're coming by your own vehicle, you can also get a permit done from Mangan. Or you can call CITI COMPUTERS SHOP to get it done."

Documents needed: 2 passport-size photos and a valid ID (Voter ID or Passport). Note: Adhar card is not valid in Sikkim.

Health & Altitude: At 15,300 ft, oxygen levels are low.
Don't rush: Walk slowly. If you feel a headache or nausea, inform your driver immediately.

Pro Tip: Carry popcorn, ginger, or camphor-many locals believe sniffing camphor or eating popcorn helps with breathing at high altitudes.

The "Early Bird" Rule: Start from Lachung by 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM. The weather at Zero Point usually turns cloudy or windy after 11:00 AM, and the military often asks tourists to head back by noon.

Clothing: Even if it's sunny in Siliguri or Gangtok, Zero Point is freezing. Wear 3 layers: a thermal base, warm sweater, and a windproof/waterproof jacket. Rent heavy snow boots and long coats at Yumthang Valley if you don't have your own.
