Saint Therese of Lisieux - Little Flower - St Therese Movie Part 1

The final hours of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux - Based on the excerpts of her autobiography, “The Story of A Soul”.
The medical condition of St. Therese worsened. She never ceased spitting up blood, suffering from her head and her side, and even vomiting the milk prescribed for her by the doctor. During this time her weakness increased considerably.
Saint Therese of Lisieux experienced much coughing, difficulties in breathing, pains in her chest, and swollen limbs. She began to make mysterious promises: "I will return! I will come down!"
The left lung was infected by tuberculosis. Thérèse was suffocating and could speak only by chopping her sentences:
“Earth's air is leaving me ... When will God give me the air of heaven?
“Ah! My breathing has never been so short!”
On Wednesday morning, September 29th, Thérèse was breathing with great difficulty. Mother Marie de Gonzague gathered the community which recited the prayers for the dying for an hour. At noon, Thérèse asked her Prioress:
"Mother is this the agony? ... What should I do to prepare for death? Never will I know how to die!"
After the doctor's visit, she asked: "Is it today, Mother?"
"Yes, my child."
"What happiness if I could die right now!" And a little later on she asked: "When am I going to suffocate entirely? “I can't stand any more! Ah! pray for me! …. Jesus! Mary! I will it!"
After a long struggle with tuberculosis, she died on September 30, 1897, at the age of 24. Her last words were the story of her life: "My God, I love You!"
Shortly after St. Therese's death, people began asking, would Thérèse be declared a saint? Time, gave them the answer.
10 years before her death: The young Thérèse really wanted to join the convent and become a nun, following in the footsteps of her much-loved sisters. She wasn’t even 15 when she and her father went to the priest in charge to ask for permission. He refused, but added,
“You can always see the bishop. I am only his delegate.” And so Thérèse went to meet the Bishop Hugonin of Bayeux.
She entered the bishop’s office with her father and surprised him with her request.
“You are not yet fifteen and you wish this?” the bishop said, to which Thérèse replied,
“I wished it since the dawn of reason.”
Bishop Hugonin didn’t immediately grant Thérèse her request and said he would consider it. Not content with this answer, Thérèse then made the boldest of decisions – to ask the Pope himself!
In November 1887, Louis Martin took his daughters, Thérèse of Lisieux and Celine, on a pilgrimage to Switzerland and Italy organized through the Bayeux diocese. Pilgrims from France and other parts of the world were journeying to Rome, to celebrate Pope Leo XIII's Golden Jubilee as a priest.
The memorable date of the trip was November 20th, 1887. On that day, there was a general audience with Pope Leo XIII in Rome. Although at that time protocol dictated papal audience members should remain silent when greeting the Pope, this did not stop Thérèse from hatching a plan with Celine to ask the Holy Father in person for permission to enter Carmel at the age of fifteen.
However before entering the room, word was passed emphasizing the importance of not speaking since the audience would be quite long enough as it was. Thérèse later wrote,
"Before I went in I fully resolved to speak out; but my courage began to desert me when I found the Vicar General from Bayeux, of all people, standing next to the seated Pope’s right hand."
Nervously she turned to consult Celine who in a loud whisper said, "Speak out." ...
