Labour Code Series: New Labour Laws in India | Introductory Session by Kumar Ji Bhat

The Government of India has undertaken a historic labour reform by consolidating 29 existing labour laws into four comprehensive labour codes with the objective of simplifying compliance, modernizing labour regulation, and expanding social security coverage across sectors. These reforms aim to create a balanced framework that promotes ease of doing business while strengthening the protection and welfare of workers.

The four key codes forming the new labour law regime are:
• Code on Wages, 2019
• Industrial Relations Code, 2020
• Code on Social Security, 2020
• Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020
