Cruquius Steam Engine

Cruquius World Largest Steam Engine, has 8 large water pumps which are driven by one big Steam engine with a piston larger than 3.6 diameters. The built of the Cruquius started in 1840 and was finished in 1849. In just 3 years and 3 months, it pumped all the water out of a large lake in the area of Haarlem. Hence the name Haarlemmermeer of this area.
