Gattaca - A Dystopia You Almost Want

Gattaca is one of the finest science fiction movies I've seen. It uses all the strengths of its genre to maximal advantage - it takes an intriguing "what if" scenario and explores it deeply through a conflicted protagonist. It is also among the scarier dystopias I've seen, for at many moments I found myself counting its benefits.

In this essay I compare it to other dystopian movies, probe the differences, and explore what Gattaca says about human nature.
