This interview took place prior to Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, in which the Detroit Pistons defeated the Boston Celtics 95-90 and advanced to their first NBA Finals series since leaving Ft. Wayne. Thomas and the Pistons eliminated the Celtics from the postseason in 1988, 1989, and 1991, though the latter two seasons featured Boston performing as shells of oneself.
