Zipline operating Novant Health's First Drone Deliveries in the US!!!

Having worked for the last few years in operations to physically build Zipline's (and the world's) first commercial drone distribution centers in Africa (with our amazing teams in both Rwanda and Ghana), and now heading up our global regulatory efforts, I'm so pleased to share that our efforts in the US have truly taken flight now too!

Why its such a big deal: I and our tireless teams (Novant Health's and Zipline's) spent nearly the entire lockdown working round the clock to do something no one thought possible but, after working closely with the FAA and the NCDOT, we made it happen! I'm proud to report that Novant Health has received America's first Part 107 Waivers to conduct long-range Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) transport operations in support of Novant Health's Covid-19 related healthcare operations, with much more to come as we roll out in a measured manner, in keeping with the FAA's prescribed "crawl, walk, run" approach.

These initial flights to Huntersville Medical Center are over 20 miles roundtrip from Novant's Drone Logistics hub operated by Zipline. So excited for much more to come!
