Similar to many bands of the 60's, the recording was done by different people than the ones who were in the band. Session musicians, like Karol Kaye, and the wrecking crew, were common. It was common practice for them to use a pick, but only one bassist I saw in live shows used a pick. Using fingers sounds good, so I went with it.
This was also a patron request. It's not a song I ever thought to do on my own, but as soon as the request came in, I knew exactly what song it was.
Lots of people like to play the main riff down an octave, to give it a fuller sound. Bar 7 has a 6 on the A, which down an octave wouldn't work, unless in Eb tuning. At this point in time, Eb wasn't common, so I would be very hesitant to use that tuning for this tab.
Bar 16 kind of sounds like it doesn't have quite the whole measure, like beats 2-4 are syncopated, but it doesn't fit well with the song
In the verse, the last beat of the first two bars of the phrase usually sound like 8-6, but sometimes sound a little different than that. The 2006 video shows slides from 3, and you could either double the 6 or do 6-7 | 8. Any of them work, but I stuck with the 8-6 since that's what most of them sound like, and it'd be easier to memorize for a show.

Bassist looks like he's playing the wrong type of music xD I guess I look like that at times too
1:22 - Verse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtAWQ9hOXVA
Same bassist as the previous clip
3:42 - uses a pick, hand lowish on neck, looks like fret 5, not fret 3 played
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yijqy48mmG4
mimed TV performance
0:04 - fingers, Hand low on neck, plays into hits. Looks like he's playing an octave down from the sound.
0:31- same positioning
0:43 - does the "hits" again
1:24 - low again
2:03 - low again in key change
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWKxhILuWg0
0:00 - Jazz style pickups
0:03 - plays the intro hits, hand low on neck, fingers
0:10 - hand position his middle of the neck, around frets 8-10
0:25 - Hand position middle of neck
0:51 - Chorus
1:00 - Verse - slides
1:37 - after key change, hand similar position
Thanks for watching! Enjoy :)
