A moon landing theory you've (probably) never heard before

The dates of the "moon landings" have an interesting overlap with major events of the Vietnam War. Is this a coincidence or was it possibly done on purpose as a way to get the citizenry to focus on the moon trips instead of some Vietnam War atrocities that were happening at the same time?
