Dr. Yamonte Cooper

Dr. Yamonte Cooper is a Professor of Counseling at El Camino College, adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology at Antioch University, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT), Certified Gottman Therapist, and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST).

He specializes in working with couples, trauma, sexual dysfunctions, gender & sexual identity, depression & anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality issues, grief, and other mental health problems.

He is the author of the upcoming book Racial Trauma and African-American Men (Routledge). Further, as a Fulbright scholar, Dr. Cooper exchanged best practices in career counseling and development in Germany and has exchanged best practices with higher education institutions in Botswana.

Nina Firooz, LMFT

Nina Firooz is a full-time private practice owner and clinician. Her practice is centered around LGBTQ+ adults. Her specialties within the LGBTQ+ community are: Working with LGBTQ+ individuals who are looking to reconcile sexuality and gender identities with faith and Christianity; LGBTQ+ Black and non-Black QTPOC (Queer & Trans People of Color); LGBTQ+ adults struggling with substance use and addiction. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, California. She holds a M.A. in Clinical Psychology with LGBT Affirmative Specialization from Antioch University of Los Angeles.

In addition to and in conjunction with her private practice, Nina works as a Therapist & Coach with The Christian Closet, the first fully LGBTQ team of counselors and coaches providing 100% online mental and spiritual health services. Prior to this work, Nina was the Clinical Director for La Fuente Hollywood Treatment Center, one of the US’s only LGBTQ-specific drug & alcohol treatment centers for adults, overseeing all levels of care and developing LGBTQ-specific curriculums.

Cadyn Cathers, PsyD

Identities: Polyamorous, Bisexual, Transgender/Bigender Man, First Generation Polish-American, Disabled

Cadyn Cathers is the executive director of The Affirmative Couch, which provides online CEs for psychologists about working with LGBTQIA+, consensually non-monogamous, and kinky clients.

Cadyn is affiliate faculty and has served as interim co-director of the LGBT Specialization at Antioch University Los Angeles for the past 3 years. He is adjunct faculty at Mount Saint Mary's University, Alliant International University, and Cal State Los Angeles.

He is a psychological assistant in private practice supervised by Kenneth Scott, PsyD, where he focuses on psychoanalytic psychotherapy with transgender and gender nonbinary patients.
