Seeing oblivion with Enchroma glasses for the first time.

So I got my new enchroma indoor glasses today. I don't really know if I'd consider this a review, it's just kind of just my thoughts. So I am red green color blind with my greens being particularly weak.

These aren't my first color corrective glasses either a while back I had tried a few different pairs of the pilestone color corrective glasses and while they worked fine they weren't nearly to the quality that these are. The pilestone ones are a 5th of the price and to be honest i do think they are a 5th of the quality.

I haven't really seen any comparisons between these glasses. I can not praise the Enchroma ones enough. The actual lenses are super clear and dont have the weird distortion type of thing i experienced with the pilestone ones.

I of course don't mean clear as in color or lack thereof because there is clearly a tint on these but it's kind of hard to explain when they aren't on my face or when i'm looking at myself on this camera i can clearly see the tint but when they are on my face i don't really see the weird tinting issue like i had on the piestone ones. The pilestone ones put like a weird reddish tint over everything and ruined whites for me these don't do that.

Of course everyone's eyes are different but for me these are night and day. Its really hard to explain. It makes everything in the world just pop though. For instance I didn't even realize there were like these wildflower things in my front yard until I wore these.

It's not that I can't see them when i dont have them on it's just that everything just blends together so i never noticed them and even now i now know they are there I still have a hard time distinguishing them from their surroundings without these.

These are the hopkins titanium DT lenses they are marketed for indoor use and I can say that they actually do work really well indoors they dont darken everything like the Pilestone ones i had did. They were also labeled for indoor use but they were nearly impossible to use unless there was very bright light all around. I also couldn't drive at night with them because it made everything so dark. These don't do that, they work no matter what the lighting conditions are. It is fantastic.

The main reason I got these was for working in unreal engine and just for programming in general. You would think that you wouldn't really need color for programming but without these i have a really hard time distinguishing error colored code. In unreal engine I can finally tell the difference between the text pin and the string pin in blueprints as well as the int and the int 64. Its so crazy like before i knew that the text pins and the string pins were different colors but they were so close that I mixed them up frequently which would slow down my work. The int and int 64 i literally had no idea were different colors before i put these on.

For me these glasses are a fantastic investment, that being said i haven't had many mind shattering moments like you see in some of those online videos about people trying these glasses and just crying because everything is so beautiful. Its just really cool to see colors more naturally and dont get me wrong the flowers, trees, and grass and stuff all look fantastic but I am a nerd so My first thought was to try them with my most favorite game of all time. The elder scrolls 4 oblivion.

I knew that the game was bright and vibrant. Its like oblivions signature thing, but I was missing out on so much detail that I had never noticed before. I would be lying if I said I didn't shed a tear when I saw the imperial city in the distance for the first time how its supposed to look. I have been experiencing this game different for a decade and Its more beautiful than i ever knew even with its aging graphics.
