Mail Processing and the USPS Brooklyn Processing & Distribution Center

Here is a great video on Mail Processing at the Brooklyn Processing & Distribution Center. I worked in the Brooklyn plant in GLORIOUS East New York for almost 20 years repairing all kinds of mail processing machinery but mostly the DBCS. Despite the huge size of this operation, it is not the largest USPS Processing site by no means. Still, it processes several million pieces of mail every day 365 days per year! This video is now several years old so some things have changed but for the most part this is how it is done. You will also see the infrastructure of the building with its enormous seven million BTU air conditioning system and twelve million BTU gas fired heating system.
