Blancpain's co-CEO and avid diver, Jean-Jacques Fiechter, had a pivotal experience while diving in Cannes, France, where he faced a life-threatening situation due to depleted air supply. This incident underscored the urgent need for a precise time-measuring instrument tailored to the demands of scuba diving. It ultimately led to the creation of the Fifty Fathoms, marking its historic debut in 1953 as the world's first true diver's watch.

This limited-edition has retained the iconic moisture indicator in a grey and white tone since it was introduced in 1957. Staying true to its original 41.30 mm diameter, the Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 3 is crafted from 9K Bronze Gold, a patented alloy enriched with 37.5% gold (hallmarked 9K). Comprising copper (50%), silver, palladium, and gallium, this unique bronze alloy exhibits a distinctive pink hue and remarkable aesthetics. Notably, it can be worn directly against the skin, distinguishing it from traditional bronze materials. Furthermore, its enhanced longevity is attributed to its resistance to oxidization, preventing the development of a verdigris color, thanks to the inclusion of gold.

Released in a 555-piece limited edition, the Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 3 comes elegantly presented in a box inspired by a historic camera housing. This design choice pays homage to Blancpain's commitment to ocean conservation efforts.
