Hiking Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado | 4K

We started this hike on Saturday 6/27 at 5:30 am. If you get to Rocky Mountain National Park before 6am, you don’t need a reservation and you don’t have to pay the $25 entrance fee. The trail wasn’t crowded on the way to Sky Pond but was getting crowded on our way back to Glacier Gorge Trailhead. There was one snow bank before you reach Loch Vale and then about 6 snow banks between Loch and Timberland Falls. We saw an elk right next to the trail, we stopped to watch and waited for him to move away from the trail before we walked by him. He saw we were there but wasn’t paying attention to us. Overall, this hike was awesome!! If you take Fire Trail you can knock off about .9 miles which was absolutely worth it.
