Therapy beyond the couch

"Wow, this sounds amazing. How the hell do I start any of this?"

I asked Liz this question because I knew a lot of people listening would be thinking the exact same thing.

If you want to pursue a career path that's different — attracting different types of clients, pitching yourself in situations where you feel uncomfortable or unqualified — how do you even begin?

Here's what Liz said:
Sit down and write it out.

Make a list. A vision board. The brands, the companies, the type of clients you want to work with.

Because once you have that list, you have direction.

You can go on LinkedIn. Find the marketing people. Find the people you need to connect with. Ask them to get coffee.

And here's the part that matters:

Form human connections with people at these companies.

Don't just blindly reach out and say, "Hey, I'm so-and-so and here's my media kit and I want to work together."

It doesn't work like that. It's relational. The work is in building real relationships first. Not in sending cold pitches into the void.

That's how doors actually open.
