Ear Extractions

This is a patient and a dear friend of mine, who has beautiful skin! She has oily skin, and the advantage of this is that your skin naturally produces more oil, which actually means your skin can look younger than someone with very dry skin (which is the type of skin that I have, in fact).
A disadvantage for someone with oily skin, is that they have a higher propensity to develop whiteheads and blackheads, and also sebaceous hyperplasias (which we have discussed and shown you in other videos on my channel). As you can see here, there are enlarged pores in her ears and an accumulation of oil in her follicles there. In fact, the skin here on the inside of the ear is very similar to the skin of the nose in terms of the number of oil glands, etc. This is why when we as dermatologic surgeons, need to transplant skin to the nose, we often choose to graft tissue from this part of the ear to the nose-- the skin composition is most similar and matches the best.

Anyways, I digress. :) I thought these were pretty nice extractions, and I know many of you ask for ear extractions, and she was so kind to let me film this procedure for you all!
