Hamas Frees 2 Israeli Hostages, Over 100 Killed In Strikes On Gaza, US Rushes In Air Defence Systems

Two Israeli women held captive by Hamas in Gaza have been released and have been brought to Tel Aviv. A spokesperson for the armed wing of Hamas said the two captives were released following mediation from Qatar and Egypt. A video distributed by Hamas shows militants walking with two women hostages, towards Red Crescent vehicle ahead of their release.
"We decided to release them for humanitarian and poor health grounds," Abu Ubaida, spokesman for the armed wing said on Telegram. Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, and Nurit Cooper, 79, were taken out of Gaza at the Rafah crossing into Egypt, where they were put into ambulances.
Meanwhile, Pentagon has sent US military advisers and air defence systems to Israel ahead of an anticipated ground assault into Gaza by the IDF. One of the officers leading the assistance is Marine Corps Lt Gen James Glynn, who previously helped lead special operations forces against the Islamic State. Glynn will also be advising on how to mitigate civilian casualties during urban warfare, a US official told the Associated Press.
