Welcome to Fun with Boxes, Episode 351: How to play the board game, The Coil, designed by Rick Fuqua and published by Amuri Studio.
Join me as I take a look at how you play this interesting card and dice game with a lovely dice placement and mitigation mechanic that really elevates this game above others.

In The Coil, you’ll guide a nation of wonderfully strange beings as you work to grow your territory, gather precious resources and achieve hidden goals.

The game unfolds in rounds, with each round featuring five phases:

Expansion, Muster, Escalation (where you’ll recruit, scout and strategise), Battle and Conquest.

Once the fourth round is complete, each player selects the strategy card they want to score with. Players can earn up to two victory points for each of eight categories, and the player with the highest score emerges victorious.

The Coil is a game for 2-5 players and will take 30-40 minutes to play.
