ভ্যাটিকান সিটি ইতালির রোম শহরের ভিতরে অবস্থিত স্বাধীন রাষ্ট্র। পোপ এখানকার রাষ্ট্রনেতা। এটি রোমান ক্যাথলিক গির্জার বিশ্ব সদর দফতর হিসেবে কাজ করে। সম্পূর্ণভাবে রোমের অভ্যন্তরে অবস্থিত ভ্যাটিকান সিটি বিশ্বের ক্ষুদ্রতম রাষ্ট্র, যার আয়তন ১১০ একর।

উত্তর-পশ্চিম রোমের ভ্যাটিকান পাহাড়ের উপর একটি ত্রিভুজাকৃতি এলাকায়, তিবের নদীর ঠিক পশ্চিমে, ভ্যাটিকান শহর অবস্থিত। দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমের পিয়াৎসা সান পিয়েত্রো বা সেন্ট পিটার চত্বর বাদে বাকি সবদিকে ভ্যাটিকান শহর মধ্যযুগ ও রেনেসাঁর সময়ে নির্মিত প্রাচীর দিয়ে রোম শহর থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন। প্রাচীরের ভেতরে আছে উদ্যান, বাহারী দালান ও চত্বরের সমাবেশ। সবচেয়ে বড় দালানটি হলো সেন্ট পিটারের ব্যাসিলিকা, যা রোমান ক্যাথলিকদের প্রধান গির্জা। ভ্যাটিকান সিটিতে রয়েছে একটি মহাকাশ অবজারভেটরি, লাইব্রেরী ভ্যাটিকানা।
