SOVEREIGNTY | MEANING, NATURE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF SOVEREIGNTY | PART-1

In this video, I explained the meaning and nature of sovereignty.

Sovereignty is the most important element of the State. Sovereignty has the special significance because it provides to the state a status which makes it differ from other association. State is the only association which possesses the quality of sovereignty.

The term sovereignty has been taken from Latin word SUPERANUS which means supremacy or superior power. Thus, sovereignty means supreme power of the state. The possession of sovereignty makes the state omnipotent. Sovereignty has two aspects:

(A) Internal Sovereignty:
Internal Sovereignty deals with the residents of the State and the various association formed by them.

(B) External Sovereignty:
It means that the state is not under the control or Influence of any foreign power in aspect of its international relations.

NATURE OR CHARACTERISTICS OF SOVEREIGNTY:
There are many characteristics of sovereignty which explain its nature. These characteristics are as follow:
(1) Absoluteness
(2) Originality
(3) Permanence
(4) Exclusive
(5) Universality
(6) Inalienability
(7) Indivisibility
(8) Unity
(9) Imperscriptibility
