A.O. Smith heater will not light.

A.O. Smith GVC 50 wouldn't light. I tried cleaning the thermopile as I've found that works pretty often until a new part can be ordered, but that didn't happen this time. After I contacted manufacturer I tested the DC voltage on the thermopile while the pilot was running. It got up to the suggested voltage, so that means the gas valve was bad and not recognizing it.
