Magnetic pickup testing on a flywheel at Bartech Marine Engineering

Extensive testing on a magnetic probe using a large Bendix pinion using a calibrated speed on governor test rig running at 1350 rpm.

Bendix pinion has 18 teeth probe mounted vertical counting end of teeth @1350rpm = 2.10vac
Bendix pinion has 18 teeth probe mounted horizontal count tooth as designed @1350rpm = 3.78vac

18 teeth = 2.10 @1350 if you have 228 teeth = 26.9vac
18 teeth = 3.78 @ 1350 if you have 228 teeth =47.87vac.

To obtain the correct voltage the teeth on existing flywheel need to be counted or magnetic pickup fitted and unit calibrated on site.

The test proves the voltage can be read in either position but its best and most definitive as designed horizontally.
