Participants:
Dr. Colette Salyk is a professor at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she teaches classes about the solar system, extrasolar planets, and observational astronomy. She also helps run the campus observatory and performs research on the formation of planets, using both ground- and space-based telescopes (including the future JWST). Colette is bad at making up her mind about which hobbies to pursue, enjoying just about every outdoor sport, various crafts, and playing music.
Dr. Sasha Hinkley is a professor at the University of Exeter in the UK, and works on the direct imaging of exoplanets. Sasha has been one of the builders of some of the instruments that are used for exoplanets from the ground at Palomar Observatory, and most recently has been organizing the exoplanet direct imaging community to obtain some of the first images of exoplanets with JWST.
Dr. Cameron Hummels is a postdoctoral fellow in Theoretical Astrophysics at Caltech, using large supercomputers to simulate the formation and evolution of galaxies over the billions of years since the Big Bang. He organizes public education events at Caltech Astronomy, including the LA chapter of Astronomy on Tap. During the lockdown, he's been going on long trail runs in the mountains, improving his Russian language proficiency, and playing online chess. http://chummels.org
