Hiking the tallest Mountain in Maine via the knife edge
Another great hike on my adventure to summit every high point in each state of New England. Katahdin is located near Millinocket Maine in Baxter state park. The summit is 5,267 feet above sea which makes it the 6th highest peak in the region. The mountain gets its name from the Native Americans calling it "the greatest mountain" The topography is a bit different than other New England mountains, especially the one mile long rocky spine called the knife edge!
