Indian Army looses 1962 war hero Brigadier AJS Behl | A tribute
Indian Army has lost its war hero Brigadier AJS Behl on 8 January. He was an Artillery officer from 17 Para Field Regiment & participated in 1962, 1965 & 1971 wars.

As a young officer, he fought the Chinese valiantly at Namka Chu as part of 7 Infantry Brigade during Oct 1962, later taken as a Prisoner of War along with his men. He was repatriated back to India the next year & served with his unit again.

In his later service, he participated in 1965 Rann of Kutch Operations & 1971 War. He retired from the service as Deputy Director General, NCC, J&K in Apr 1995.

Brigadier AJS Behl commanded 1890 Light Regiment. Account of his role in 1962 Indo- China war is given in the Book '1962 The War That Wasn't' by Shiv Kunal Verma & an article hosted at usiofindia.org by the title '1962 War : Battle of Namka Chu - As I Saw It'.

Brigadier AJS Behl was admitted in Command Hospital Chandimandir & last rites are planned in Chandigarh.
