Calling in a Doe 6/6/21
When calling deer with a reed style call I always start with a series of soft calls, wait 5-10 minutes then I usually blow a couple more soft calls followed by louder fawn distress calls, you can get real loud with these calls but I rarely scream at the deer though that can work, especially in areas that don't get a lot of pressure. All the areas I hunt are close to town and the deer are better educated in the ways of hunters than the Sitka Blacktails you find in more remote areas of Alaska. This doe snuck in behind me about 5 minutes after the second series of calls and spooked when I looked over my shoulder to see her coming out of the jungle about 15 feet away, it was nice of her to stop and let me catch her on camera.
