Parenting a child with profound autism - the part nobody speaks about ❤️‍🩹

As a mum to a non-speaking 7yo who is ASDL3 - I felt compelled to post this draft I filmed shortly after the Clune family tragedy, because the recent announcements regarding NDIS funding cuts will continue to fail more families living the same reality. This conversation is so important - now more than ever. Their plan is to not only remove level 1 & 2 autistic children from the scheme, but funding for level 3 autistic children is still being reduced, delayed, or taken away altogether.

I recently had a 1:1 briefing with the Minister for Disability and expressed my concerns with him directly… i was taken back by thd profound lack of understanding & empathy for the realities of these families and individuals living with profound disabilities.

So I will continue speaking about the parts of autism that make people uncomfortable. The parts nobody wants to acknowledge. The system failed the Clune family… and without urgent change, these new reforms and funding cuts will continue failing many more ❤️‍🩹 #autism #nonspeaking #ndis #asdmum
