How “Play to Learn” Is Transforming Education Through Play

Today, many children are learning how to read and memorize, but they are forgetting how to ask questions. Play to Learn, a Nepal-based nonprofit education organization is working to change that through its “Learning Through Play” approach.

The organization works primarily with children in government and low-resource schools, making education fun, interactive, and driven by curiosity rather than rote memorization. Through games, puzzles, storytelling, origami, and group activities, children develop skills in mathematics, science, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.

Play to Learn also trains young volunteers and students as “Funmakers,” who lead engaging learning sessions and inspire children to explore and ask questions. By working closely with schools and teachers, the organization is helping introduce innovative teaching methods that encourage children to enjoy learning and think critically.

Play to Learn believes that when learning is joyful, children do not just memorize answers, they learn to ask meaningful questions.
