Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on December 24 unveiled details of a US-led, 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the war with Russia, even as fighting on the ground shows no sign of slowing. The proposal includes a non-aggression pact, security guarantees for Kyiv, and provisions for sanctions and coordinated responses if Russia attacks again. It also outlines joint oversight of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and recognises current front lines while calling for Russian withdrawals from parts of Ukraine. Moscow says it has received the plan and is reviewing it. Meanwhile, Russian advances continue in eastern Ukraine, missile and drone strikes persist nationwide, and officials warn that the defunct Chernobyl nuclear site could be at renewed risk amid the conflict.
