For many guys, Naked & Famous is the entry point to selvedge denim: they fall right between your basic Levis and your super expensive Japanese brands. They’re based in Canada and use imported Japanese denim for their designs, of which they have many, but their best known model is the Left Hand Twill.
DENIM
It’s 13.75 ounces, so it’s thicker than your average Levi’s which are closer to 10 and 12.5 ounces.
It has an indigo weft and a white warp. When you first get them the color is rather metallic but they fade nicely, the white becomes starker after a couple of washes and after year or two of regular wear they look like pre faded jeans, but (obviously) not in an artificial way. It’s pretty stiff denim when you first get it, but it softens and becomes fuzzier as time goes on.

CONSTRUCTION
A standard five pocket design with a cool exposed selvedge line on the coin pocket. The back pockets are unlined, which means your phone or wallet are more likely to make a dent in the color if you like them there. The stitching is a nice dark gold, which contrasts nicely with the almost metallic color of the denim.
FIT & SIZING
Naked & Famous gets a lot of props for its huge variety of fits: there are 7 fits to choose from. The Weird Guy is really popular but I have meaty thighs and a high butt crack, so I found the Easy Guy fit me best: a roomy thigh, high rise, and a steep taper toward the feet.
Note that these stretch a lot between washes. You can reduce the stretch if you wear a belt with them, but a downside is that if you wash them infrequently they’ll be pretty darn baggy by the time they go in the washing machine. (Or the freezer, or however you like to care.)
CARE
A lot of people just wash these once or twice a year, it’s really up to you. Personally I find these feel a bit mustier than my more expensive jeans when I don’t wash them for a couple of months, so I stick to washing them every 20 wears or so.
When you wash them make the water cold, turn them inside out, and don’t wash them with anything else as they bleed a lot when wet.
PRICE
About $145, a very good price for selvedge jeans.
PROS
* Variety of fits
* Well priced
* Sanforized, so it’s easier to find a fit in store
* Twill is easy to follow
CONS
* Stretches a lot between washes
* Quickly accrued several threads
* Some don’t love the buttons they’re not like heavy brass like some pricier brands
* Fades more vertically
* They bleed when wet
