British Columbia's Biggest Coke Producer. Abandoned Ruins
The city of Hosmer has quite a fascinating page in our history book. Hosmer blew up incredible fast with an economy based entirely on coal. There was a mine that provided the coal, and then there were several hundred Coke ovens producing Coke for the near by smelter in Trail, BC. The town had huge expectations and people rushed there to get a piece of the riches, but the riches were never found. The mine was in operation for only six short years then it was shut down and the entire town was abandoned.
