Himalayan peaks & AMA DABLAM on trek to Everest Base Camp in VR180

Everest Base Camp trek from Gokyo to Lobuche, with Ama Dablam mountain front and center, in VR180.

In the Khumbu region of the Himalayas of Nepal, after descending from Cho La pass and passing through Zonglha, we were flanked by Tobuche and Lobuche peaks (left and right, at the very beginning, respectively).

The star of the show, however, is Ama Dablam, which translates to "Mother's necklace", which is the pyramid shaped peak directly front and center. Sometimes referred to the "Matterhorn of the Himalayas," Ama Dablam has steep, soaring faces, which are thought of as a mother's arms holding her child (the massive glacier). At 6,812 meters (22,249ft), Ama Dablam is quite a lot shorter than Mount Everest, but is far more technical and difficult to climb.
