What is Blockchain and why is it disruptive?

Moritz Schildt gave us a basic introduction to the concept of blockchains, how they work and can be applied to financial currencies and other areas. He also addressed business implications and how it can affect our society, leading to disruptions of sorts.

After completing his studies, Moritz worked as a strategy consultant in financial services and has spent many years in executive roles (CFO and CEO) with financial services providers. In 2009 he founded nordIX AG and in 2017 he co-founded coinIX GmbH & Co. KGaA, a listed entity which invests in digital assets and blockchain projects. He is also co-founder and board member of Hanseatic Blockchain Institute. Moritz holds degrees in law and economics from Hamburg University as well as an MBA degree from INSEAD.
