I Built a Full Stack Travel App That Keeps Solo Travelers Safe in India | My Itinerary

Every year, millions of people travel across India alone.
And when something goes wrong — they are sick in an unfamiliar city, they feel unsafe walking back to their hotel at night, or their phone dies in the middle of nowhere — there is no platform that actually helps them.

Google Maps gives you directions.
MakeMyTrip books your hotel.
TripAdvisor gives you reviews.

Nobody gives you safety.

I built My Itinerary to solve that.

🛡 WHAT IS MY ITINERARY?

My Itinerary is India's first safety-first travel companion — a full-stack web application that gives solo travelers, women explorers, and backpackers a verified guardian network, AI-powered trip planning, healthcare access, and real-time safety tools, all built specifically for travel across India.

This is not a tour booking website. This is not just another itinerary generator. This is travel safety infrastructure — the layer that has always been missing from how India handles its travelers.

The tagline says it simply: Travel Freely. Stay Safe.

When I started thinking about this project, I kept asking myself one question — if you are a solo woman traveler, you arrive late at night in Varanasi, you do not know anyone in the city, and you start feeling unsafe — what do you actually do? There is no answer to that question right now. No app, no platform, no service exists that addresses it. My Itinerary is my attempt to build that answer.

🚨 THE PROBLEMS I IDENTIFIED

Before writing a single line of code, I spent time understanding the real gaps in India's travel infrastructure. I found four specific problems that no existing platform addresses.

Problem 1 — Women and Solo Traveler Safety

Solo women travelers and backpackers exploring unfamiliar cities face genuine safety concerns that existing platforms completely ignore. Getting lost in an unknown area at night, experiencing harassment, or facing a medical emergency far from home with no local support — these are real situations that millions of Indian travelers deal with every year. There is no platform that connects travelers with verified, trusted local residents who can provide immediate ground-level assistance.

Google Maps tells you where to go. It does not tell you whether it is safe to go there at 10 PM as a solo woman. It does not connect you with someone who can walk with you. My Itinerary does.

Problem 2 — Healthcare in Unfamiliar Cities

When a traveler falls sick in a city they have never visited before, they face a completely unstructured situation. They do not know which hospitals or clinics to trust. They do not know whether the doctor speaks their language. They have no idea what a consultation will cost before they walk in. There is no travel-focused healthcare discovery system in India today — zero platforms that surface verified, English-speaking doctors with transparent cost estimates specifically for travelers.

Problem 3 — Authentic Experience Discovery

Every traveler ends up visiting the same fifteen places mentioned in every guidebook and every YouTube travel vlog. The real India — the Ziro Valley music festivals, the Dholavira ruins in Gujarat, the Lepakshi hanging pillar in Andhra Pradesh, the salt desert of Rann of Kutch at midnight — is buried under hundreds of generic blog posts and scattered across random Instagram accounts. There is no single platform that surfaces authentic, verified, locally-sourced experiences for Indian travelers.

Problem 4 — Fragmented Trip Planning

Planning a trip in India currently means reading 20 blogs, watching 15 YouTube videos, asking in three WhatsApp groups, and still ending up with a generic plan that does not account for your budget, your actual interests, your dietary preferences, or your safety needs. The process is completely manual, completely fragmented, and completely disconnected from any safety layer.
