A massive fire at a Lineage cold-storage warehouse in Boyle Heights prompted a shelter-in-place orde

A massive fire at a Lineage cold-storage warehouse in Boyle Heights prompted a shelter-in-place order as Los Angeles firefighters ventilated the building. The blaze, reported shortly before 2and30 p.m. Wednesday at the 1400 block of South Los Palos Street, produced a black smoke plume visible for miles. More than 30 water drops from helicopters helped fight the fire, and LAPD went on tactical alert, later adjusted as crews gained the upper hand. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. Investigators cited a roof-wide solar-panel array as a potential factor. A new shelter-in-place order covered roughly the area south of the 101 Freeway to Washington Boulevard, between Lorena Street and Indiana Street. Residents were told to stay indoors and expect smoke. The South Coast AQMD extended a particle pollution advisory through Friday, with monitoring showing brief spikes in particulates and trace bromine and chlorine, but below health thresholds.
