If you've been trading for a while you probably know that trading discipline is critical when trading. Everything is very simple to do in theory but that's theory and the reality is very different.
- Attack one problem at a time; you need to break down problems into individual parts or you won't stand a chance. If you're trading too much (overtrading) you need to address that issue before turning to other problems. Focus on that issue and don't get overwhelmed by stretching yourself too thin.
- Give yourself proof of 'why'. The main reason you don't stick to your rules is that you don't believe in your rules.
- Introduce a carrot and stick - if you stick to your trading plan reward yourself for it. If you break the rules then you restrict yourself.
For myself I had a serious problem with trading discipline and when I started focusing on one thing at a time things started improving.
