When the series got the green light, the first thing the Duffers decided to invest in was getting the Emmy-winning, the best of the best, casting director Carmen Cuba.
In an interview to Backstage magazine, Cuba revealed that prior acting experience can sometimes be pretty important for child actors. And the D&D gang absolutely fulfilled the requirement. Gaten Matarazzo starred in Les Mis when he was 12, Caleb Mclaughlin played Young Simba in the musical The Lion King and Sadie Sink played the famous red-headed orphan in Annie. Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard and Millie also had a great experience playing in big-screen movies.
