Bharti Kher, b. 1969 in London, UK.
Lives and works in New Delhi, India.

Bharti Kher studied painting and graduated from Newcastle Polytechnic in 1991. Shortly thereafter, she moved to New Delhi.

She has had solo and group exhibitions in cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Paris, Amsterdan, Busan, Zurich, London, Tokyo, Washington DC.

In this video, Bharti Kher talks about the significance in her art practice of connecting with not just histories, but also with objects, of engaging with not just ideas but with materials. She considers that the transformation of material through art might be thought of as alchemical, or even magical.
